When disasters like a Thai Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, or most recently, an earthquake in Haiti happen, we need fast, affordable, and sustainable housing that can be used to provide shelter for millions of displaced people. After Katrina, it was obvious that we were ill-prepared for the task. Enter Michael McDaniel who, inspired by his styrofoam coffee cup, invented this Exo Housing System, which are modern-day tee pees that are amazingly efficient and can each sleep a family of four. It is inventive thinking like this that truly saves lives.
